Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007 (S. 2499) signed into law

UDSMR is very pleased to inform the industry that this law permanently repeals the 75% Rule for inpatient rehabilitation facilities and returns the compliance threshold to 60%! The 75% Rule relief provisions of S. 543 and H.R. 1459 were included in the legislation. The legislation retroactively makes this change effective to July 1, 2006, and also allows comorbid conditions to count toward the compliance threshold. In addition, the market basket update factor is set at 0 percent from April 1, 2008, through fiscal year 2009.

UDSMR thanks all of you in the industry for your grass-roots efforts in reaching out to your congressional representatives and urging them to support this critical piece of legislation. With your hard work and determination, all rehabilitation facilities can continue to provide their patients with access to the rehabilitative care that they need and deserve.

UDSmr announces plans for the National Pediatric Outcomes Conference

This conference, which has grown out of the work that UDSmr has done with the Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (PARF) and a consortium of other pediatric rehabilitation providers, will take place later this fall or early next year. It will be open to subscribers and nonsubscribers alike and will be held in an easily accessible location. Planning for the national pediatric outcomes conference is in the beginning stages. More details will be announced in the next few months.
